Founded in 1997, the International School of Madeira (ISM) is the only Cambridge-accredited international primary school on the island of Madeira, Portugal. Located at Quinta Martins in central Funchal, ISM follows the Cambridge Primary Pathway — the world's most widely recognised international curriculum, taught in more than 160 countries worldwide.

ISM delivers a fully bilingual education in English and Portuguese, with the curriculum equally divided between both languages from Grade 1. Small class sizes averaging 12-16 students ensure every child receives individual attention in a caring, disciplined environment. The curriculum covers English, Mathematics, Science, and Cambridge Global Perspectives, complemented by weekly specialist classes in swimming, physical education, and art.

Students complete their primary education with the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint — internationally benchmarked assessments that provide families with a clear, globally recognised measure of their child's academic achievement.
